Amplifier Power Management

ecoRAIL: Full Output, Half the Idle Draw

ecoRAIL is Dynacord’s patent-pending power-management technology. At idle or low modulation — background music, a pilot tone — it cuts an amplifier’s power draw by more than 50% while the unit stays active, supervised and ready to play.

The DSP looks ahead and predicts the output signal, so the switch between power rails is inaudible: no distortion, no click, no mains inrush — and full output available instantly, with no missing first syllable.

Outage Protection

ghostPOWER: No Reboot, No Silence

Modern amplifiers carry DSP, microcontrollers and network interfaces — which means they boot up like computers, easily taking 30 seconds or more. After a short power cut or the switch to a generator, that reboot is silence you cannot afford.

ghostPOWER keeps the electronics supplied through the interruption, so the system never reboots at all — without dedicated UPS hardware. On IX Series installation amplifiers, ghostPOWER holds the DSP, Dante network and mic/line inputs alive over PoE. It matters most where a sound system doubles as secondary emergency notification alongside a dedicated EVAC system, and on live stages, where a few seconds feels like hours.

Patented Output Flexibility

Variable Load Drive: One Amplifier, Any Line

Variable Load Drive (VLD) is patented Dynacord technology: for each channel, you choose whether it drives low-impedance loudspeakers or 70V/100V lines — directly, with no output transformer.

In low-impedance mode, every channel can be configured in software in 0.1-ohm steps, from 100 W up to the channel’s maximum, across the full 2–10 ohm range. One amplifier platform covers the surface speakers, the ceiling lines and the distributed zones of an entire building.

Output Protection

Cycle-by-Cycle Current Limiter: Stable Below 2 Ohms

Conventional amplifier protection has one answer to overcurrent: switch the channel off. That protects the electronics, but it limits which loudspeaker loads you can safely design around — and it takes the channel down mid-show.

Dynacord Class-D amplifiers monitor output current inside every single switching cycle and limit it at the PWM level, while an optimized audio limiter keeps the intervention virtually impossible to hear. Channels stay alive and keep driving very low-impedance systems — below 2 ohms — instead of shutting down.

Semiconductor Protection

Junction Temperature Modeling: Headroom in Real Time

Every power semiconductor has to stay inside its safe operating area. Conventional protection guards it with blunt limits and generous safety margins — which means performance the components could deliver is left unused.

Junction Temperature Modeling calculates the actual temperature inside each important semiconductor in real time, from operating voltage, housing temperature, output current and output voltage, feeding a continuous thermal model of the cooling system. The result: significantly more output power from the same hardware, with reliability intact.

Media Networking Architecture

OMNEO: Audio and Control on One Network

OMNEO is the IP architecture that carries multichannel audio and system control together on standard network hardware: low-latency media transport compatible with Dante, and system control built on the open AES70/OCA standard.

Because it is built on open public standards, OMNEO connects pro audio, public address, conferencing and intercom on the same infrastructure — from a single room to networks of up to 10,000 devices.
